THANK YOU, FROM THE MOEG.

Since we started our fundraising effort for the Margin of Eras Gallery, so much kindness, care and support has been extended to our team and to the initiative, and for this and we are truly grateful.

Now, looking forward, based on our current capacity and resources we have been forced to make the very difficult but necessary decision to shut down the campaign and close the gallery in the coming months.

Please know that, while the space may be closing, CUE will continue the important work it has been doing since 2008—providing high-access grants, mentorship, employment, and exhibition opportunities for new-generation artists living and working on the margins in Toronto. We’ll be running our Story Reno Studio writer's bursary program this year, and will be working to grow our art granting program. The MOEG will also be producing one last show in collaboration with Charles Street Video next month--so stay tuned.

While we did not reach the fundraising goal that would have allowed us to keep the gallery open, we are extremely grateful for the overwhelming support we have received, and all funds raised will go to support CUE’s ongoing work. The response to the MOEG’s challenges has affirmed our belief in the generosity and kindness of our community, while underscoring both the necessity of this kind of space, as well as the lack of comprehensive support for cultural infrastructure designed by and for artists living and working on the margins, and our communities.

The spirit of what made the MOEG so special transcends the brick and mortar container of 1684 Queen Street West, and we hope that the impact of the work and gatherings that took place here will continue to reverberate through Toronto’s contemporary art landscape for years to come.

Thank you to every single person who supported us, and visited our space over the past two years. We are closing the MOEG today, but we know we will be seeing you again in the future.

In the meantime, we ask you to continue to support Toronto’s grassroots arts scene & marginalized communities. Attend shows and workshops, share the amazing grassroots programming you come across, share your resources, tell your friends, and strangers you’ve never met, when they’re doing a good job. Advocate for systemic change; ensure your local, provincial and federal governments know how important the arts are to a healthy and & vibrant society, and that cultural institutions support artists representing the real diverse make-up of our city, our province, and our country.

Yours for the future of art,

The Margin of Eras Gallery team
