The Heather Fulton Files

Heather Fulton is a multidisciplinary artist living and practicing in Toronto. Through the use of alternative photographic processes and non-traditional media, her work explores the themes of memory, nostalgia, and the notion of the archive.

Heather was supported by CUE to produce "The Burial Archive"--a photo series aiming to expose, explore, and understand the fragility of human memory, and the traumatic effects of memory loss on the body and the mind. Using film photography and alternative photographic processes, this work was completed with the intention of having the artistic process’ inherent vulnerabilities reflect the same frailties that afflict human memory. Camera grain, irregular exposure, and intentional damage to film all reflect the gritty, fragmented and often sporadic aesthetic of memories fractured and faded.
