Announcing a new collaborative initiative

We are excited to announce that this cycle of CUE is being brought to you in partnership with Platform A, a collaborative initiative involving Art Starts, Jumblies Theatre, Arts for Children and Youth, SKETCH and CUE, and Toronto Arts Council (as funding catalyst). The initiative will support mentorship, partnership, as well as micro-grants for community engaged arts in the GTA.

 You may apply to CUE, OR one of these organizations for up to $1000 in funding (cannot submit to more than one):

Art Starts inspires and cultivates social change by bringing professional artists and residents together to create community-building art projects. Working in four under resourced neighbourhoods in Toronto and across all artistic disciplines, our artists come from all walks of life. Arts for Children and Youth AFCY positions art-making as a catalyst for sustainable community engagement and youth leadership. AFCY’s micro-grants are for emerging youth artists/collectives to create innovative, cutting edge arts initiatives in Toronto that can be fully completed between January 2014 and March 2014. Eligible applicants include artists living in under-resourced communities in Toronto, who are working in any art form and who fall into any of the following three categories: 1) emerging youth artists (age 15-29);  2) collaborative groups of youth artists; and 3) multi-generational groups of artists with a youth artist as the lead applicant. Jumblies Theatre will award micro-grants to artists of any age and from any arts discipline or tradition, with basic arts training/education or equivalent experience, to support projects and artistic practices that have significant community-engagement focus.  Micro-grants can fall into one of the following categories:  1) Project Development: supportingartists in gaining skills and capacity to launch and manage a project. Activities could include developing a project outline or funding proposal, producing digital support materials, or enlisting a mentor/grant-writing consultant.  2) Pilot Project: allowing artists to test a project idea or aspect of a project - for example, to facilitate a pilot workshop or short series of workshops with a specific group.
