ABOUT MAIA “MEECH” BOAKYE

Maia “Meech” Boakye is a visual artist whose work observes the uncanny in the mundane, often looking at the domestic home and garden as a site of labour and leisure. Although they are not medium-specific, Boakye’s work often juxtaposes found objects through digital and sculptural collages. Using the framework of the abyss, they explore how a shared experience of alienation under neoliberal capitalism can be a catalyst for political action.

ABOUT CHLOE

Chloe is a Black, queer, femme artist living and loving in Toronto. Her chosen mediums of expression are film and the written word. Chloe's focus on community transparency and story-telling is what underlies her work as an artistic director, linguist, film producer and energy worker. As a certified Reiki practitioner, she understands the importance of holding space for healing within our practices. With multiple projects already under her belt, she aspires to break stigmas and have open and honest community conversations. Chloe is also the owner of chloebeblogging.com where she self-publishes written works across genres".

ABOUT TIANA SMITH

Tiana Smith is a black, queer, femme multimedia artist who is driven to tell stories about identity and self discovery. She uses her art to explore and provide a platform for sexuality, gender, youth, and the radicalized femme experience. Tiana uses her platform to allow queer artists of colour to be a priority while holding space for her community to be seen, recognized, and supported.

ABOUT CHASON YEBOAH

Chason Adjouah Nana Yeboah (b. Toronto 1991) Is a self-taught textile scultptor,  doll maker, and story teller exploring the oscillation of her ancestral communion and ritual, through woven, reconstructed and (un)raveled structures.  Yeboah's practice is one that focuses on the process of creation rather than the product itself. Many of her works directly focus on themes of shame, loss of identity, sexuality, the notion and practice of self-love, hybridity,  energy transference, and acknowledgement of the human form, with a primary focus on marginalized humans. Her desire is to traverse the interconnectivity of these themes, and through those travels, be it through her inclusive dolls, personification soft sculptures, or safe space creations, aims to provoke more conversation on communal awareness.
